Slow Cooker Chicken In Creamy Sun-dried Tomato Sauce

One thing that I love is how almost any recipe can be adapted to use a Shirley J product. I found this recipe on the Campbell Soup's website. It looks amazing and I also love that it is a Slow Cooker recipe. I LOVE my slow cooker.
Anyways, with just by substituting for Whisk Bliss I was able to cut about 500 calories, 6 grams of fat and 800 mg of sodium. Plus I improved the taste. What?! Have you ever eaten a condensed cream soup plain? It's not very appetizing. I do eat Whisk Bliss plain and I love it! So easy, so much healthier and it will improve you favorite recipes!
Don't believe me! Try it!

Slow Cooker Chicken In Creamy Sun-dried Tomato Sauce

1 cup of Whisk Bliss and 2 cups water
1 cup Chablis or other dry white wine
1/4 cup coarsely chopped pitted kalamata or oil-cured olives
2 tablespoons drained capers ...
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14 ounces) artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1 cup jarred sun-dried tomatoes, drained and coarsely chopped
8 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (about 2 pounds)
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves (optional)
2 cups regular long-grain white rice, cooked according to package directions (about 6 cups)

How to Make It

1 Mix your Whisk Bliss and water and bring to a simmer on your stove.

2 Stir the soup, wine, olives, capers, garlic, artichokes and tomatoes in a 3 1/2-quart slow cooker. Add the chicken and turn to coat.

3 Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours or until the chicken is cooked through. Sprinkle with the basil, if desired. Serve with the rice.

Crockpot Enchiladas

I was so excited to use this recipe. I got it from a friend and thought why not? I haven't made enchiladas in FOREVER. Why? It is very time consuming and my family doesn't always appreciate what I cook.
To start off I stuck 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts in my crockpot and cooked on high for 4 to 6 hours.
At about an hour before dinner I prepared the sauce and then layered the ingredients in my crockpot. What I found out about this recipe is that I had very little prep time, I used less ingredients than I would have with regular enchiladas and therefore I saved $$! Plus, I didn't have to turn on my oven to make a hot meal. That's a win/win situation for me!

Crockpot Chicken Enchiladas

3c. water
1 c. Whisk Bliss Original or Gluten Free
1 t. Shirley J's Chicken Bouillon
1 small bag of Velveeta's Mexican Style Cheese
1 or 2 small cans of chopped green chilies (I used one and it was enough for us)
1 to 2 c. cooked or caned chicken
12 tortillas (I used 4 and that seemed enough)

Directions:
Cook your chicken, if you need to. Mix and cook water, bouillon, and Whisk Bliss until thickened and smooth. Crumble Velveeta into mixture and cook until melted. Take the chicken and pour the green chilies and sprinkle in some cheese and mix until it holds together. Take sauce and spread it out onto the bottom of the crock pot. Then place a tortilla on top. Next spread some chicken and then repeat the layering. (I layered it 4 times and had a little sauce left over and  spread it on top and then placed some extra cheese on top!) Cook on high for an hour!
This is what the meat looked like after I added the chilies and the cheese. I couldn't find ANY Velveeta "Mexican Style" cheese and I went to 2 stores.
 The layering process!
 Now the sauce!

Then another tortilla and then repeat! ENJOY!

Whisk Bliss as a Substitute

I love Pinterest and really enjoy finding new recipes. I feel that I get stuck in a cooking rut and need to get out and that is where Pinterest comes in.

Anyways...I found this recipe. I loved how I saw that it needed a roux. Why? Well...Whisk Bliss Original or Gluten free makes a great substitute that is better for you and is easier to make. When making Whisk Bliss there is no need to watch it constantly to make sure it won't burn.

As we were eating it my husband gave "the nod" that lets me know that I can make it again. Even my toddler ate it all!

While eating I noticed that it tasted very similar to my Creamy Chicken Enchiladas.

Let me know what you think!

Chicken and Green Chili Pasta

1 lb penne pasta

3 chicken breasts, cooked and shredded with cumin and onion (2 cups)

2 cups shredded Monterrey Jack Cheese

3 Tbsp water

4 Tbsp Whisk Bliss

2 cups water

1 tsp. Chicken Bouillon

1 cup sour cream

4 oz diced green chilies

1. Cook pasta according to package, drain and set aside.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray 9X13 cooking pan.

2.  In a mixing bowl, stir together chicken and cheese.

3. In a medium sauce pan, combine the water and Whisk Bliss.  Stir it in let bubble for 1 minute.  While that is bubbling, put 2 c. water in a sauce pan until boiling and then add the Chicken Bouillon. Slowly add in chicken broth and stir constantly.  Let bubble and thicken for 10-15 minutes.  Turn off heat and stir in sour cream and green chilies.  Stir until well combined.

4. In 9x13 baking dish, layer pasta, chicken and cheese mixture two times.  Then pour sauce over top.  Do not stir.

5. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.

Food Storage, easy fix

See these cans above. I have no problem with them. I have used them in the past. I am just sharing with you an easy way to replace 22 of the cans above.

How you ask?

It's with Whisk Bliss Original and if you need Gluten Free you can replace them with Gluten Free Whisk Bliss.

Awesome right?

Plus, you can make soooooo many other recipes with Whisk Bliss.

The best part is: there are no preservatives, you just add water, no added MSGs, no transfat, no saturated fat, and no hydrogenated oils.

Read more here.

If you would like to try some please comment below and I will send you some to try!

Ham & Cheese Ziti

Dinner tonight!

This is a modified recipe. The original recipe called for butter, flour, and milk. I was able to reduce the time it took to cook, the amount of calories (1065 calories!! That's a whole meal!), and the fat content just by using Whisk Bliss Original or Gluten Free.
Ingredients:

16oz packages ziti noodles
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 1/2 c. water
4 cups Colby cheese, shredded
8 oz cooked ham (deli style), cut into thin strips
3/4 cups Parmesan cheese, grated

Directions
Cook and drain pasta according to instructions (you may need to do it in two batches if your larges pot isn’t large enough.
This is what the cheese sauce looked like. Ignore the dirty stove, please!
In large saucepan mix water and Whisk Bliss and bring to a simmer, on the stove. Add garlic
Once simmering, allow to continue to thicken for 1 minute, then add mustard and Colby cheese. Continue stirring until cheese is melted. Add ham and pasta, stirring well. Pour over cooked ham and noodles.
You can bake this or freeze for later. I thought that after baking that there needed to be more sauce. Just a thought.

Scalloped Potatoes & Ham

I found this website on Pinterest and saw that they had freezable crock pot meals. I LOVE easy and dinners that I can take and freeze, especially when it's the end of the pay period and I don't have anything on the shelves. It's soooo nice.

Now these ingredients will make 2 meals. You each meal will feed around 6 to 7 adults. So you can make one for today and put the rest in a baggie and freeze for later. So nice, so easy!

So here are the ingredients:

12 new potatoes and cut into ¼ inch round slices or a large bag of frozen potatoes
1 c. Whisk Bliss Original or Gluten Free
2 c. of water
2 ham steaks, cubed--we used turkey ham
8 oz cheddar cheese
4 cups of broccoli
salt and pepper

Directions:  Whisk up your Whisk Bliss with the water before hand, make sure it starts to thicken. Don't bring it to a simmer. Divide everything evenly into two containers.  Cook on low for 8 hours. **I put my cheese on top the last 30 minutes of cooking. I have found that if you add it too soon it will curdle on you.

*EDIT* People have mentioned the potatoes turning black if frozen.  Mine didn't do that, but just to be safe, either use frozen potatoes or add potatoes the day of cooking.

This is what your Whisk Bliss sauce will look like.

And here is the final results, ready to freeze. This photo was taken from www.six-cents.com

Whisk Bliss

You have read before my description of what Whisk Bliss is. Now I want to share with you how it can help you save money and time. I know we all have better things we want to do besides cook and clean for our family.
Me? I want to be reading a nice book all cuddled up in a blanket or be playing with my kids.

What if you had one item in your pantry that could make you over 100 different meals? Would you buy that item? What if that item could keep you from running to the store if you forgot to get something to make your meal? What if that item also helped you eat healthier so you could eat dessert if you wanted to?
Whisk Bliss will make you anything creamy. See all these pictures of food. It made these items.
I know you are thinking $17.95 for a bag of this stuff! Seriously this lady is CRAZY! I don't have the money for that.

Think about it. How much do you spend, on average, to eat out at a restaurant? $60? $70? For my family of 4. I say 4 because the baby doesn't eat a plate of his own food. It's about $60 if we go out to Olive Garden.

Let's say you buy Whisk Bliss ($17.95), Pizza & Pasta Seasoning ($8.95), a bread mix ($4.95), and a fudge brownie mix ($8.95). Then you buy some salad at the store ($2.00) and some chicken ($4.00) and pasta ($2). You take all of that and make Chicken Alfredo with bread sticks, a salad, and brownies for dessert. That would come to $48.80. Now mind you, you will have left overs. The left overs will taste fresh the 2nd day. PLUS, you still can make 7 more meals with your Whisk Bliss!! Your Pizza & Pasta Seasoning will give you at least 25 more items to season, depending on how strong you like it.

You just saved $11.20, and that doesn't include how much money you saved on gas to drive for not driving to the restaurant!
This one bag replaces 22 cans of your condensed cream soups! That's right 22! Bringing the price down to $.82 a can. I can't even find that at Walmart. You can use this in any recipe that calls for condensed cream soup.
It also tastes better than the creamed soups you buy at the store. It has less sodium, calories and fat.
So...now you are feeding your family something MUCH healthier than what you would find in the stores.
It takes less time to make the sauce then it does to cook the noodles for Alfredo.
You can even use it for side dishes. Like the one above. I made a Cheesy Asparagus Rice.
Share with me your meals that you think you could use the Whisk Bliss in.

Chicken Suzanne

I'm not sure if all of these ingredients are Gluten Free, but the Shirley J Whisk Bliss is! And I am telling ya, it was good!

This recipe was adapted. I found this recipe in a book I got waaaaayyyyy back when I first got married. My sister in law told me that it was good, so I thought I would give it a try. I was glad I did, and not so glad I did.

I know you are thinking, "Why isn't she glad she tried it?"
Here's why: It had all sorts of fatty things in it. I told my husband I will have to only make this once a month, he agreed because he is on a diet.

Anyways...You are probably thinking: "Lady get on with it."

So it's adapted. Shirley J's Whisk Bliss can substitute ANY cream soup. Which I love because I also, halved this recipe. I don't feed an army at home and leftovers go in the trash at my house, unless I eat them. You can't half a can of soup very easily without wasting money.

5 medium potatoes                                          1/2 c. Miracle Whip
4-5 boneless, skinless chicken                         2 T. lemon juice
breasts                                                              1 c. sour cream
1c. cheddar cheese                                           1/2 c. melted butter
1 c. Whisk Bliss Original or Gluten Free         2 c. water
1/2 t. Shirley J's Chicken Bouillon                   1/2 t. celery seeds (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel and slice potatoes and line the bottom of a 9 x 13 cooking dish with them. Cook the chicken and dice it. Put Whisk Bliss and water in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer, then add bouillon and celery seeds to it. Mix Miracle Whip, lemon juice, sour cream, cheddar cheese and Whisk Bliss mixture together. Put chicken over the potatoes and then pour mixture over all of it. Sprinkle bread crumbs over and melted butter. Cook for 35 minutes or until potatoes are done.

I think this would even be better without the potatoes and serve it over rice.

Chicken Alfredo Wraps

I found the recipe to this on Pinterest and I decided why not!? I will make this with Whisk Bliss Original and with the Pizza & Pasta Seasoning. In the original recipe it calls for 1/2c. butter, cream cheese and heavy whipping cream. UGH!!! To much fat and too many calories. Remember Whisk Bliss is only 135 calories for 1 c. prepared and we have no saturated fats or trans fats.

You will need:
9 lasagna noodles
2 ½ cups Alfredo sauce (make with Whisk Bliss Original or Gluten Free see directions below)
2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
1 T. Pizza & Pasta Seasoning (If you don't have any you can mix 1/2 c. Parmesan Cheese instead, oregano,& garlic salt)
3 cups shredded Mozzarella, or cheese of your choice

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Cook your noodles until al dente. While your noodles are  cooking. Take out your Whisk Bliss Original or Gluten Free and measure out 2/3 c. of it. Put it into a sauce pan. Mix the Whisk Bliss with 2  and 2/3 water. Bring it to a simmer and simmer for about 5 minutes. Measure out about 1 T.  Pizza & Pasta Seasoning or add more to your liking. Pull out your noodles and rinse them in cold water, so they don't stick. Then lay them flat on some paper towels and pat them dry. Put about 1 T. or so of the Alfredo sauce onto the middle of the noodle then place the chicken and cheese on top. Be careful it will be hot! Wrap the noodle up and place it in your 8 x 8 pan. Do this with all of your noodles. Once you have the pan full use the rest of the sauce and pour it over all of the noodles. Sprinkle the top with more cheese and place in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes.
After all was said and done, my husband did the head bob which tells me that it was a winning recipe. Yeah!!!!
This can also be a Gluten Free recipe!!

Cheesy Chicken

So this is a recipe that I have had since college. I found it on the Internet many many moons ago. (Please don't ask, it will reveal how old I am.) My sisters started requesting this recipe every time I cooked and since then it has always been a family favorite. Now I share it with all of you.
Here is what you need:
2 cups of cooked, cubed chicken
1 box of stuffing (Chicken Flavor)
1/2 cup of Shirley J's Whisk Bliss and prepare it with 1 and 1/2 water
1 cup shredded cheese

 To prepare it:
Set your oven to 350 degrees. Cook the chicken on the stove until thoroughly cooked. Then prepare the stuffing according to the box. Prepare your Whisk Bliss in a pan and add the 1/2 teaspoon of Chicken Bouillon. Layer your cooking pan 1st with chicken, then stuffing, then pour the Whisk Bliss mixture over the top. Do NOT mix the stuffing and the Whisk Bliss together, it will make the stuffing really soggy. Pour your cheese over the top and place your dish into the oven.

This is what it looks like.

Enjoy!

Cauliflower Pizza

So all over Pinterest is this new pizza recipe using cauliflower instead of pizza dough for the crust. I was curious and decided I might as well try it. This would give my kids their vegetables and pizza all in one. A win - win situation.
I got the crust recipe here.
The sauce I used came straight from Shirley J.
Alfredo Pizza Sauce
1 T. Parmesan cheese
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/8 t. black pepper
1 1/2 c. water
To make the sauce put all of the ingredients into a sauce pan and whisk. Whisk it occasionally until it starts to boil. Once it starts boiling, turn down the burner to simmer and allow the sauce to thicken. Once the sauce is done and the pizza crust is ready spread it on the crust.
This sauce will cover 2 good size pizzas.
If you still don't have some of Shirley J's Whisk Bliss you can order it from my website.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much we did.

Potato Cheddar Soup

So, I decided to cook something special for my husband and then I went to get out all of the ingredients and found that I was missing a key ingredient. Ugh... I had already started cooking some of the ingredients from the recipe and thought to myself: "What can I do with potatoes?" Then I remembered I could make Potato Cheese Soup. So....Whisk Bliss to the rescue.

I got out my White Cheddar Whisk Bliss bag and started cooking it.
I measured out my 3 cups of water and then put the mix into the water.

After putting it into the water I whisked it up and waited for it to start boiling. While I waited I stirred it up a few times so as not burn the bottom of it.

This is how it looked as it started to boil.
Meanwhile, my potatoes were boiling and cooking in another pot. Once the potatoes were done I smashed them up a bit and then threw them into the White Cheddar Whisk Bliss.

Finallly, I added a little salt and pepper for taste and dinner was ready. My husband enjoyed his soup and I was able to save some ingredients from a previously failed dinner plan.

You can also make this same recipe with the Original Whisk Bliss by just adding shredded cheese and potatoes to the Whisk Bliss.

Hawaiian Chicken

Ingredients
2 cups cooked chicken
1 cup onion, diced
1 cup green pepper (chopped big or small)
2 cups of water mixed with 1 cup of Whisk Bliss
1 can (15 oz.) pineapple (crushed)
2 tsp. soy sauce
1 tsp Chicken Bouillon  (I like it without, but you can add it)
fresh cut tomatoes (optional)
Directions
Saute onion and green pepper till mostly soft. Cook chicken and dice. Whisk together 3 cups of water with 1 cup of Whisk Bliss and bring to a boil. Add pineapple, soy sauce, chicken bouillon, sauteed veggies and cooked chicken. Mix together well and simmer for a few minutes. Serve over cooked rice with tomato slices….. ENJOY!

This recipe easily freezes. I love to cook it and then put a little away for leftovers. The rest I put in a freezer bag and store away for another day. I have a family of 4, 2 of which are young and only eat small portions. This makes 2 meals for my small family. This can easily feed 8 people.

Whisk Bliss, What are you?

Many of you are wondering what is Whisk Bliss? Well...let me tell you. It is amazing, delicious, easy to use cream base that chefs in restaurants have been using for years. It was developed by Shirley J and has now been offered to the public.

I love it! It has made cooking so much easier for me and grocery shopping so much simpler. How you ask?
Well...Whisk Bliss is a universal sauce that can be used in MANY different ways. I will list just a few.
  • Do you use condensed cream soups? If you need cream of chicken, cream of mushroom, or cream of celery you can substitute it with Whisk Bliss.
  • Want pasta tonight? Alfredo is a favorite meal in my house and is often eaten 4 times a month. Instead of making your own or buying the jarred kind, Whisk Bliss can take the place.
  • You can use it to make macaroni and cheese. Yes, you don't have to eat that awful powdered version from the store.
  • You can use it for gravy, country gravy that is. Biscuits and gravy take a whole new level when you use Whisk Bliss as your gravy sauce.
  • Want to make cream based soups? Use Whisk Bliss for broccoli and cheddar, potato and cheese, corn chowder, and many more.
  • Love potatoes? Try Whisk Bliss with your scalloped potatoes.

This is just a tip or the ice burg when you think of all the cream based items you make. Shirley J's Whisk Bliss comes in a 2 lb bag. You can use as much or as little as you need for each meal. I love that because in my house left overs, more than not, get thrown away. This is my way of controlling how much is made and therefore I get to save money in my kitchen. And if you know me I am cheap. I LOVE to save money. My husband often laughs when I tell him what I did to save money. He also complains about other things I do, but we won't talk about that.

Not only does Shirley J's Whisk Bliss offer all of this. It also offers a Gluten free version. I love this too. I have tried it in many of my own recipes and actually prefer it to condensed cream soups. So, if you have a Gluten allergy I have an answer: Whisk Bliss Gluten Free.

There are other health benefits to Shirley J's Whisk Bliss. One, is that there are no MSGs. Two, there are no preservatives added. Three, it contains NO hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. Four, it's 100% trans fat free. Five, it's 100% free of saturated fats. Six, has less sodium than other cream bases on the market. Seven, is lower in calories than other products that you would use. Eight, Shirley J's Whisk Bliss is high in monounsaturates because of their use of heart-healthy sunflower oil.

Gosh, with all of that information why would you not want to use Whisk Bliss?

You can check out what Whisk Bliss is by viewing the videos on the side of my blog.

I will be sharing recipes and more as the weeks pass.
